Cup Rules 2014

 

General

  1. The cup competitions shall be run on a knock-out basis.
  2. Only 1 team per club per age group may be entered.  

 

Arranging matches

  1. The first drawn team will be the home team and will be responsible for contacting the away team.
  2. For each match the two teams concerned shall mutually agree upon a date in accordance with the NFJCA dates for completion of the round for the playing of the match, unless the matches have been scheduled into your normal playing day.
  3. The home team must give the opposing team, with 2 weeks notice, 2 possible dates on which to play the round, and this must be copied to the relevant Result Secretary.  If the opposing team cannot meet either date then the match will be awarded to the home team.
  4. The home team should advise the result Secretary of that age group of the mutually agreed date.
  5. Any team which refuses or fails to play the match on an agreed date, or a team which plays an ineligible player and being found guilty of the offence, shall be removed from the Competition and the beaten team re-instated.

 

 

Match results

  1. Both clubs must complete a match result sheet in detail giving a list of all the players’ names, including their Christian names where 2 or more players have the same surname.
  2. The home team shall be responsible for ensuring the fully completed result sheet reaches the Results Secretary.
  3. Result sheets must be sent to the Results Secretary within 4 days of the match being played.
  4. Home team failing to comply with these rules will result in a fine of £10
  5. If a result sheet is found to be incomplete, the Results Secretary shall be entitled to return it to the home team for completion.
  6. The team scoring the greater number of runs in its completed innings shall be declared the winner, except where the match is abandoned.
  7. If a match is abandoned after a minimum of 10 overs being bowled in the second innings the result shall be on the score after 10 over of each team’s innings.
  8. If the runs totals are identical at the end of the two innings, the team losing the fewest wickets shall be declared the winner.
  9. In the event of run and wicket totals being the same, the team conceding the fewest number of extras shall be declared the winner.

 

 

Eligibility of players/teams

  1. A player may not play for more than one club in the competition, unless they have transferred and not played in the Competition for their original team.  Otherwise a player is considered cup tied and ineligible to play in the Competition for another Club. 

 

 

Under 9’s cup

 

  1. The pitch shall be 18 yards in length
  2. An incrediball should be used and full protective cricket kit must be worn
  3. Each team shall comprise of 8 players
  4. Each match shall consist of one innings per team.  Each innings shall be of 16 overs duration
  5. The batting team shall be divided into pairs.  Each pair shall bat for four overs.  Pairs shall retire at the end of the 4th, 8th and 12th overs
  6. Batsmen shall have unlimited ‘lives’ during their innings but each ‘life’ shall result in 5 runs being deducted from the total.  Batsman shall change ends at the fall of each wicket, with the ‘out’ batsman going to the non strikers end,  except when a wicket falls on the last ball of an over
  7. Each player on the fielding team must bowl, with the exception of the wicket keeper.  However, if desired the wicket keeper may also bowl but not no player shall bowl more than 3 overs
  8. Each team shall commence its innings with a score of 200 runs
  9. The winning team shall be the team scoring the highest number of runs after the deduction for the fall of wickets.  In the event of a tie, please see rules 7,8 & 9 under match results above.
  10. In matches no fielder, except the wicket keeper, shall be allowed to field nearer than 11 yards measured from the middle stump, except behind the wicket on the off side
  11. In accordance with the Laws of Cricket a substitute shall be allowed to take the field of an injured player.  Such substitute shall only act as a fielder whilst his team is fielding.  Any over(s) that would have been bowled by an injured player shall be shared between the remaining players without exceeding their allocation
  12. Should a team be unable to provide 8 players, the final pair may be made up using a previous batsman who will bat as normal.  Any runs scored by a substitute batsman will not count in the run total, but 5 runs will be deducted if a batsman is dismissed.  The game cannot take place with less than 7 players in either team
  13. The bowling of Wides and no balls.  
    Wides and no balls as defined in the Laws of Cricket will be penalised by awarding 2 (two) runs to the batting team.  An extra ball will not be bowled.  However in the 16th over of each innings 2 (two) runs will be awarded to the batting team and an extra ball will be bowled.  Additional runs can be scored.
  14. There will be no LBW Rule in the Under 9 Competition.

 

 

U11, U13, U15 and U17


  1. The pitch for u11’s shall be 20 yards in length and for u13’s. U15's & U17's it shall be 22 yards.
  2. A ball in suitable condition must be provided by the Home Club for each match.  It shall weigh 4.75oz for u11’s and u13’s and it shall be full size for U15’s & U17's.
  3. Each team to consist of 11 players
  4. Each innings shall consist of 18 overs for under 11, 20 overs for under 13, U15's and 17’s.
  5. No player shall bowl more than 4 overs, during an innings.
  6. A batsman must retire when they reach 25 runs for u11, 30 runs for u13 and 40 runs for the u15’s & U17's.  They can return to the crease in the event of their side being dismissed within the set overs.    Retired batsmen must return in the order of their retirement.
  7. The winning side shall be the side scoring the most runs.
  8. LBW as defined in the rules of cricket will be played at U11’s, U13’s, U15's and U17’s.
