2018/19 U16s Indoor Cricket League at the Ageas Bowl - Results, Stats and Fixtures The New Forest Junior Cricket Association has entered and sponsored a team (managed by John Bailey) - good luck & good fun to them! New Forest U16s fixtures & results as follows: A New Forest Junior Cricket Association team containing young players from Bashley, Lymington & Sway CCs kicked off their Hampshire U16 Indoor League season at Ageas Bowl on Sunday with two well-earned victories against strong sides from Fair Oak CC and Havant CC. 11/11/18 v Fair Oak  New Forest 142-2 (18pts) BEAT Fair Oak 111-3 (5pts) (Josh Royan 25no Toby Mills 27no Dan Bailey 26no Josh Bailey 26no) Report: After losing the toss and being put into bat by Fair Oak, Josh Royan (25 no) and Toby Mills (27 no), batted steadily to retirement to set the platform for Daniel Bailey (26 no) and Joshua Bailey (26 no) to attack. The twins set about the Fair Oak attack with some ferocious power hitting that saw the score accelerate from 56-0 after 7 overs through to 141-2 at the close of the 12 over innings.  The Fair Oak response was marshalled well by Smith (26 no) but they struggled to keep up with the required rate after losing early wickets. Jack Harris took a smart stumping off Joshua Bailey to dismiss Reed and Royan ran out Wolverson with a direct hit. Sam Presland got in on the act by tempting Chahal into an uppish drive caught by D. Bailey and after 7 overs Fair Oak were 51-3. White (25 no) batted nicely but Fair Oak never looked like matching the New Forest's earlier acceleration as they were pinned back by steady bowling from Mills (2-0-15-0) and D. Bailey (2-0-12-0) to finish short on 111-3. 11/11/18 v Havant  New Forest 136-5 (17pts) BEAT Havant 107-3 (8pts) (Sam Presland 26 Josh Royan 63no) Report: New Forest were again put into bat in the final fixture of the evening. Sam Presland (26) picked the gaps nicely to bat his way to an initial retirement. But New Forest lost their way as first Jack Harris (11) and then Joshua Bailey (0) fell to excellent catches from hard hit straight drives. Havant were in the ascendency when Daniel Bailey (9) was unfortunate to be run out and with Toby Mills and the returning retiree Presland out quickly it just left Royan as last man standing with the score at 74-5 in the 8th over. Showing trademark game intelligence Royan (64 no) played an excellent captain’s knock manoeuvring the ball and the field around in textbook fashion in guiding New Forest to a solid total of 136-5.  Having thoroughly warmed up with the bat Royan (3-0-18-1) immediately put Havant on the back foot with the ball dismissing the impressive Dean and giving away just a single run in his first over. Oliver (26 no) batted well but when Presland (3-0-20-1) deceived Perkins (21) in flight and Royan caught Cripps (16) off the bowling of Daniel Bailey (2-0-22-1) Havant always looked to be struggling to make the target. Some clean hitting by Taw (17 no) took Havant to 107-3 but a solid all-round performance by New Forest in the field saw them home comfortably.  New Forest Stats:    Upcoming Fixtures:  02/12/18 19:00 v Parley 02/12/18 20:00 v South Wilts  09/12/18 19:00 v Hook Hurricanes 09/12/18 20:00 v Compton & Chandlers Ford  20/01/19 19:00 v Parley [CUP] 20/01/18 20:00 v Basingstoke [CUP] 27/01/19 CUP FINALS EVENING 03/03/19 19:00 v Bournemouth 03/03/19 19:00 v Basingstoke 24/03/19 LEAGUE GRAND FINALS   |
